Myanmar (Burma): January 2017
Eggs, baked beans, yogurt, toast, and eggplant for breakfast? A little odd but I guess you can't complain too much. Some more sea eagles in the morning off Wa Ale Kyunn, too!
As the morning grew late we sailed to Sitta Galet, where, according to the local guides at the village yesterday, a big celebration was happening here tonight. We had no idea what it was about, but hell, why not?
Sitta Galet is a small Burmese village of 120 people and I think two bars, so truly not much here. People from Ma Kyone Galet had sailed over earlier in the day for the celebration, so the village square was packed. The celebration itself... we had no idea, but by time we watched a bunch of schoolchildren come on to the stage for the third or fourth time, it sounded like an end-of-term-awards-ceremony and acting/dancing exhibition?
Only a little more awkward than not knowing at all what was going on was being seated by the village in the second row-- we tried to be modest and hide in the back of the crowd, but that didn't work! o_0
Had an extremely late dinner, joined by two Italian NGO's we met the previous day, on board the boat. Omelets, fish, eggplant, I think it was a tom yum soup... another night of delicious eats!
