Death Cab for Cutie
Ridiculous 3:30am wake-up for the 5:30am return, although the breakfast in first class was nice, as was being able to take a slightly less fitful nap on the airplane.
Lunch and dessert at Lemonade and Blockheads Shavery with Amy, Nik, and family afterwards. Lemonade is a very hipster place with a fairly new location on Sawtelle-- not quite my thing, but I can see why so many people enjoy it. And the shaved snow at Blockheads is a well known addiction of Amy's!
Hollywood Bowl for Death Cab for Cutie with Joycelyn later that night. They're still awful on stage, but a lot of the new stuff from Kintsugi goes over much better on stage than on the album, and they had a liberal sprinkling of their older songs. (setlist.fm) Hearing Cath... was a pleasant surprise, in addition to expected songs such as I Will Follow You into the Dark and Title and Registration.
The encore of Passenger Seat, Marching Bands of Manhattan, and Transatlanticism was both beautiful and entirely expected-- but for Death Cab, being entirely expected did nothing to diminish the strength of the ending.
Wandered over to the Lai household one last time to supply them with Chicken McNuggets for their last packing push til something like 3am that night... they still had a lot to go. o_0
