Mission Peak
Hiking Mission Peak in Fremont with Diana, then off to Cooking Papa in Santa Clara for some of the better Hong Kong-style food I've had in the Bay Area.
Mission Peak is 6.25 miles round trip and 2100 feet of elevation gain. 98% in the sun. It's a nice, constant grade most of the way... aka quite a workout, especially if you're like Diana and have been drinking the night before! The view is of the entire South Bay, which is pretty decent. If only someone had a real downtown in this area, the view would be even better. 2 hours up, 2 hours back (did I mention it was steep?). Definitely a decent workout!
Saw a ton of people on this trail, plus a single paraglider. No hanggliders today, unfortunately, although we did wander over to the hangglider launch area.
We were both starving afterwards, so ignored everyone else and went straight to Cooking Papa for dinner. Having never been, we found it a slightly nicer place than expected-- we walked in smelly and dirty from the trail, but fortunately no one said anything! Ordered won ton soup (nom!), large order of xiao long bao (nom, but merely good), bean curd and bok choi (Diana's favorite), and the house special chow mein... yuuuuum! Crispy fried noodles with chicken, char shu, and seafood. Plus bok choi. Delicious! The milk tea was yummy too, the fruit punch was way too sweet.
Conclusion: yummy!
Brief stop later that night at Yogurtland with Majed and An Thomas thrown in... then I had to leave waaay early in the morning, so we were boring and went home.
