Ack. Data loss.

Sorry!

My host, addaction.net, had a hardware failure (on the server I'm on) on Saturday (the 18th) during their daily backup. Wiped out the daily backup in the process, so they had to restore from the weekly backup. I lost the "KDL SubCulture" post I had going as well as the New Year's Eve 2003 picture update.

Everything is restored now except the missing post.

The missing post, in a nutshell:
February 2003

Somehow, a post on my website turns up #3 on google when you type KDL 103.1 in the search box. I've gotten the occasional post about KDL in my comments about it, but nothing too surprising. ... Then... KDL goes off the air on December 21 and ceases to be electronic dance music (shorthand: EDM). This surprised lots of KDL listeners, including myself. I googled and dug up some sites like spundae forums and Sophia dug up an excellent blog, franklinavenue about it.

So KDL 103.1 is now indie rock instead of EDM, and now Los Angeles' only EDM station is gone. And I check my moveabletype, and what the hell I have 53 comments on that post now!! I have this whole little KDL subculture growing on my site, and I didn't even know it.

It's kinda cool and I don't mind, but it's kinda weird too! Evidently Pearl has something similar on her moveabletype too, about IHOP. So I'm not alone in this phenomenon... =P
