Random comment...

Am I hallucinating, or is 2004 starting off by taking a grim toll on relationships?

Several of my friends, some in long-term relationships, have broken things off... thankfully nothing appears to be catastrophic explosions like years past, but regardless... what the hell? Did I not get the memo or something, that 2004 would be a lousy year to get involved/stay involved?

Picture update

Snow Summit pictures from this weekend.

Tip of the day: don't faceplant your landings.

(that hurt. Not that bad, but it still hurts, which is rather annoying... I only wish I had a picture of me faceplanting off of that small little jump! I was expecting a tiny-smallish jump, and then when I hit it, oh-crap-that-wasn't-so-tiny-after-all-jump! **FOOMP!**)

Congrats, Amit!

Hope you enjoy your Silverstone 350Z Roaster Touring... =)

(and if you can fathom $41k out the door for a Nissan, more power to you! That much money ($37k+tax+title) for a Nissan just doesn't make sense to me!)

Have I really taken 21,000 pictures in the last few years?

Ack. Data loss.

My host,, had a hardware failure (on the server I'm on) on Saturday (the 18th) during their daily backup. Wiped out the daily backup in the process, so they had to restore from the weekly backup. I lost the "KDL SubCulture" post I had going as well as the New Year's Eve 2003 picture update.

Everything is restored now except the missing post.

The missing post, in a nutshell:
February 2003

Somehow, a post on my website turns up #3 on google when you type KDL 103.1 in the search box. I've gotten the occasional post about KDL in my comments about it, but nothing too surprising. ... Then... KDL goes off the air on December 21 and ceases to be electronic dance music (shorthand: EDM). This surprised lots of KDL listeners, including myself. I googled and dug up some sites like spundae forums and Sophia dug up an excellent blog, franklinavenue about it.

So KDL 103.1 is now indie rock instead of EDM, and now Los Angeles' only EDM station is gone. And I check my moveabletype, and what the hell I have 53 comments on that post now!! I have this whole little KDL subculture growing on my site, and I didn't even know it.

It's kinda cool and I don't mind, but it's kinda weird too! Evidently Pearl has something similar on her moveabletype too, about IHOP. So I'm not alone in this phenomenon... =P

Happy New Year!

Yes, 2004. Welcome... I think.

It was a busy December. Lots of hours at the slave camp, er, work. Birthdays and other parties. Friends visiting. Many places visited and many miles driven. Many pictures taken. Radio stations changed (KDL 103.1 "new party station" is now "indie 103" wtf?)

What does it all mean? Well, I just know that for tonight, I'm bloody tired! In a good way, at least. =)
