Much Erasure goodness yesterday. Yes, yes indeed... the new album was released yesterday! Next to it... just about every widely-available version of the Solsbury Hill single... UK's 2 CDs + DVD and US 1 CD...

Picked up Erasure tickets to the Los Angeles show on March 18th today from the ticketmaster.com internet presale. =) Also got the Solsbury Hill single (US version) two days ago, too-- Amazon "standard shipping" is effectively "next day" here in Los Angeles. SWEET!

My apologies for the lack of picture updates. I was busy getting the Ars System Guide out and had to back-burner my personal site updates.

Went skiing yesterday. It was fun! Snow Summit/Bear Mountain aren't very big resorts though, and the snow sucked. Pictures will be up in a bit... spent today installing a Hotshot header in Barry's Sentra SE-R Spec V. Installing it sucked, but we have some decent pics to do an installation writeup, I think.

Also, Tower Records in Santa Monica stinks. I called 'em around 12:30pm...
me: "do you have the new Erasure single, Solsbury Hill, in stock?"
them: "the computer says we have 2... we'll go check..."
two minutes later...
them: "sir we're still looking."
me: "ok, thanks"
two minutes later...
me: "uh I'm on hold for the Erasure single..."
them: "oh, yeah, we're still looking"
two minutes later...
them: "we've found them, we'll put them on hold for you."
me: "sure, could you put them on hold for Brian? what time do you close?"
them: "done. we close at 10pm"

I think "COOL!!"... go work on Barry's car all day, work on my car a little... ~9pm... drive to Santa Monica... "the computer shows we have 2 in stock." *digs through pile of CDs on hold "it's not on hold here." F*CK! A different guy working at the front looks through the singles and the albums section (which I've already done), says "we might just have got it in, we'll check the back." He goes and checks and says "i couldn't find it, but we have some unopened boxes in the back." I say thanks, browse the store some more, and leave.

But please tell me, how the hell can you have a single which has been out for 5 days that's IN STOCK in your inventory system, yet not have it in stock, and say it might be in some un-opened boxes? WTF?

I was there last Friday asking about the same CD, too. They said they had 2 in stock then, too. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR...

My MMIG 12 Professor is a dumbass.

"Use your BOL to login to the class website." BOL is Bruin On-Line for us UCLA students. We have separate usernames and passwords for BOL and URSA at UCLA.

So, I try to use my BOL login combo to get in... nope, no luck. I use my URSA combo... nope, no luck. Hmm, WTF?

The site clearly isn't run by BOL, it's run by the Life Sciences department... not even integrated with BOL or the College itself aside from our class roster... wtf? Ok, the Social Sciences department uses UCLA ID/SSN to login... nope, that doesn't work either.

WTF is the login!?!? I try about 10 more different combinations before I get in. HELLO PROFESSOR? Could you PLEASE tell us what we need to do to login before we all waste 5 minutes of our time??

The Skeptical Environmentalist rebuked. We did a series of group reports on "TSE" in my Geography 5 class in Winter 2002, and man, taking that guy apart sure was fun. I wonder if Professor Longcore ever published his work rebuking TSE. *shrugs*

New Year's Eve 2002 pics are up. Los Angeles at night pictures are up.

Today's plans were SNAFU'ed as usual. Pictures will be up late today, probably. Probably three more galleries, maybe as many as five, but don't count on it... went to a Lambda Phi Epsilon party at Grand Avenue ("Union" on Saturdays) tonight after finding out that my short-throw shifter install was SNAFU'ed.

Had lots of fun, great party, blah blah blah... ok. Now I really need to get to bed, because I have to get up early to change my car back to the stock shifter tomorrow. *sigh*

Speed of Gravity = c (+/- 25%) from Ars Technica.

In less-intellectual news, I should have a couple of days worth of pics from vacation posted tonight. Also, my yogurt which I had in my shopping cart today at the grocery store mysteriously disappeared, and I'm not quite sure how.

(edit) Three birthdays pictures up... Lord of the Rings at the Sony Metreon pics... Thuy's Christmas Potluck... two more galleries tomorrow, maybe four...

Some pics. Enjoy. =)

Los Angeles yesterday around ~3pm with our 80F weather... Santa Monica beach/pier actually.
Santa Monica 1. Santa Monica 2. Santa Monica 3.

San Francisco this past weekend around ~4pm...
San Francisco 1. San Francisco 2. San Francisco 3. San Francisco 4.

Monterey a few weekends ago... around 1pm, in the rain. Camera is actually pointed towards the Santa Cruz end of the Bay:
Monterey 1.

Oh, yeah... another nice day outside, although I wish I had time to go running. I don't. =( Well I could, but getting my course reader is more important. I'll just have to hope tomorrow evening is a nice evening. =)

First day of class... started

First day of class... started at 9am, goes til 6pm. Not a bad day, but a long one- I'll have to get used to this. Only one class so far, Geog150. Geog150 feels like it's about half IDS (International Development Studies) majors instead of all Geography majors... too many decent looking women in the class for a Geography class. =P

Great game today, 49ers vs.

Great game today, 49ers vs. Giants in the playoffs. Listened to the game on the drive down from the SF Bay Area to Los Angeles with Dave and Barry. We were on pins and needles, going nuts, for the entire game... one of the best football games I've heard (and really wish I watched!)... ever!

Anyway, I just had phone conversation a few minutes ago, and I realized I sounded like a total idiot -- my brain evidently got exhausted from all of the traveling and excitement today. With that realization, I'm going to go to bed now, and post pictures from this winter break later.

Pardon the lack of updates, especially the lack of pictures... pictures may start coming up as soon as this evening, but I can't guarantee that due to time constraints.

Some fluff: I am offended by the fact that someone dared to park a `02 Mustang V6 automatic in my driveway. I have no problem that it's a Mustang, or that it's a V6, or that it's an automatic, but the fact that it is indeed all three of those things seriously offends me. (e.g. our Acura 3.2TL is a V6 auto, but it's a luxury car and doesn't even have an available manual transmission!). A Mustang V6 auto though... sheesh. To the moron who owns it: what the hell were you smoking?
