Just got back from SoCal-SERCA
Just got back from SoCal-SERCA Dyno Day #6. Supposed to start at 8am at R&D Dyno... a bunch of Hyundai Tiberuon (sp?) guys showed up at 7am and took the first bunch of spots on the dyno. Then Darren, the owner of R&D, got there a little late... by the time we started it was past 8:30am. Things went pretty smoothly despite the slow start. I think it was 25 cars that were put on the dyno, plus repeats for more extensive testing.
Stuff of interest:
- Shaggy's 474fwhp (or was it 496?) 200SX SE-R... he was on pump gas this time at only 15psi, getting something like 350fwhp.
- Biggie's (Ron's????????) 400fwhp 200SX SE-R... it was an incrediby clean car with a highly customized F-max turbo kit. Drool. Unlike Shaggy's SE-R, Biggie's was very clean, almost stealth-- my look of choice.
- 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V was there. It's a damn nice car if you can overlook the quirky 6-speed manual transmission (with its awful cable linkage) and low rev limit. No, it was not put on the dyno.
- Cheston's 1997 Nissan Maxima... Stillen V-2 supercharger, Stillen y-pipe, cat-back exhaust, lightweight flywheel, ACT clutch, G-Force ECU, blah blah blah and my 15" SE wheels. Only 246fwhp. =( We'll have to look at that later...
- Someone (I forgot his name!)'s 2000 Maxima GXE 5-speed, stock, did 182fwhp which is about right!
- Someone's 1995~1996 Maxima GXE automatic with CAI and y-pipe did 157fwhp. I think that's a little low, but it could be about right as well-- I can't remember the HP and torque curves...
- 1997 Nissan Maxima SE 5-speed, stock w/15" SE wheels did 156.1fwhp and 172.1fwtq. I think it's a little low as well-- by 2~4fwhp, but that could be fine as well because R&D's Dyno is the high-HP model, which tends to read lower numbers for less-powerful cars. Also, this is a 3rd gear dyno vs. the usual 4th gear dyno. My ECU was also freshly reset, although I don't think the car's automatic-learning mode would give me more than 1hp.
- Enough Hyundai Tiberuons to shake a stick at and a few Solaras, but only one went on the dyno-- a 5-speed V6, he did 199 (?) fwhp with 4psi of boost on his TRD SC.
